*boing* I jumped from Isami’s arms straight into Masashi’s without looking back. When I watched the HanaIchi trailers years ago before the game came out, Masashi’s was the one route I swore I would never go on, but lo and behold, it’s my favorite. In fact, they’re all my favorite, depending on what I played most recently.
Masashi is just a tsundere through and through, but instead of being bewildered by his changing attitudes, Haru susses out his personality pretty quickly and has plenty of fun at his expense. It was also pretty funny when he decided to ‘take responsibility’ for accidentally kissing Haru by marrying her… In retrospect he was probably just looking for an excuse to get closer to her. Yeah yeah, Masashi, I know you like me, you just keep pretending you don’t. The harder he tried, the more I enjoyed watching him squirm ^_^
His route is a little less serious than some of the others, even though like the others he does get involved with the assassin targeting the family (and somehow manages to bring him under control). But Masashi himself is never in any real danger and never gets tangled in the political intrigue surrounding the Prime Minister’s assassination. Most of the time he’s just being 16 (Go away! I hate you! I hate my mom! I hate my dad! I’m smarter than everybody and nobody understands me!) and trying to tease Haru only to be teased in return. It was pretty cute. Puberty always looks cute from the other side 😉
But enough about that. It’s been a fun journey, but I’ve finally done all routes I wanted to in Hanayaka nari Waga Ichizoku, so what next? …I want to play it again! But I won’t. As I mentioned yesterday I’ve already started some other games, most recently a first-person dungeon crawler called Entaku no Seito (I think I’m going to like it), so it’s time to move forward with my gaming life. I was going to write a final roundup quote on HanaIchi in general, but that would make me sad, so I won’t. Goodbye, Hana… waaaaah… Ichi… *sniff*…
