Even monkeys fall from trees. And even normally careful gamers forget to keep backup saves and accidentally overwrite precious New Game+ data with an actual new game save.
In most games this wouldn’t be a problem because each route would be (mostly) separate. But in Hayate no Gotoku: Boku ga Romeo de, Romeo ga Boku de, the only way to unlock Maria as a romantic partner is to clear all the other girls. No cleared save data = No Maria. No Maria = No point in continuing. And I just had Isumi to go before getting her, what a pity.
On to the next game!
My son keeps overwriting or deleting my save games all the time. Accidentally, of course. None the less frustrating tho. Never finished Persona 4, which I loved to death, because he deleted my 95% complete save. (Good thing I’m getting a Vita and P4 Golden, the new stuff will motivate me to play through the game again… twice. Hopefully.)
He deleted a 95% complete save game? If he’s over the age of 10, he deserves to be grounded for like a million years. Stuff like this is why I normally keep a backup save of all my important games. Normally.
He was three when he deleted it (or rather he formatted my whole PS2 memcard), so that really wasn’t his fault, I couldn’t even get angry at him… but I immediately bought a backup card!
Luckily making backups isn’t so much of a hassle with the newer consoles now, with USB and SD card slots, so yeaaah, after he accidently saved over my “almost before the final boss” save game of Arc Rise Fantasia last year (when he was five), I started doing backups of all my save games. …I’m a scatterbrain tho, so I tend to forget about it. A lot. Or I think I already did when I didn’t. *coughs*
How come he has access to your games, though? When I lived at home, my younger cousins, nephews and nieces were all were expressly forbidden to touch my consoles, much less turn them on, much less stick a game in and load it up and delete a game.
Well, the memory card accident was just by unlucky chance. But since last year I am letting hime play on the DS and the Wii. He loves RPG games just as much as I do, so I let him play those that I think aren’t too disturbing. I wouldn’t let other children touch my consoles or handhelds, but seeing my 5 year old run over to me and telling me with utter excitement what Pokemon he caught? Absolutely awesome. 🙂
Awww, how cute. When I have kids I’m thinking of starting them off with a GameBoy Color (if they still exist in 20XX). Sturdy, good game selection, teaches kids there’s more to good gaming than just graphics. And it has Pokemon Gold!
I started with a GBC, but I think a DS is actually quite perfect to get children interested in gaming. There’s such a huge selection of children games and the touch controls keep them entertained and amazed. And graphics wise the DS isn’t really a powerhorse eiter, so they’ll still learn the “gameplay >>>> graphics” lesson. 😀
I’m sorry for being so spammy on your blog, but Saturday nights spent at home sometimes make me infiltrate someone’s blog/thread/wall, it’s a good way to socialise without really being social. I like that. XD
I dunno, I’m on my second DS Lite now because they’re so fragile. The right hinge keeps cracking, and on my first one it just flew off altogether. Maybe I’m just unlucky.
Feel free to keep the comments flowing. It’s not like I’m out saving the world on a Saturday night. Well… sorta. Unless a game world counts 😉
Hahaha… I killed my first DS lit after two days. Or rather, my boyfriend killed it. He spilled a glass of water over it and gone it was. I tried letting it dry for two days, that worked for my cellphone, but nah, the DS was dead. I just went to the electronic’s store where I bought it, told them it suddenly stopped working and got a new one… XDD
That one lasted for 3 years, then my charger cable had a defect and killed the mainboard of the DS, I even opened it up to see if it was just a burnt fuse, but meh, dead. So I sent it to Ninty and they gave me a brand new one for 60 Euro. And that one has survived one and a half year with my son now. I’d say you had been unlucky. Or I had been really lucky. Who knows. :>
But I think it’s nice, that Ninty gives you a new one for that little if you send the old one in. 🙂
It was a new one for $70 in the US 2 years ago, but I just find it unforgivable that they made a product that shoddy in the first place. Mine wasn’t one of those cute little hairline cracks you see on Google. It was *ping kapwing* *fwoom* flew right across the room. The second one developed a crack in the front that looks a lot like this:
so I have to handle it with extreme care.
Eh, but enough grumbling. I love it nevertheless.
Uh, that sucks a lot. I heard that tons of people had problems with the hinges and the shoulder buttons. I sometimes have the problem of the shoulder buttons not reacting, but it’s really rare and besides that everything is fine. I hope it stays that way.
Btw, I just had this holiday scene in Lair Land which made me crack up: http://f.666kb.com/i/c0e8zr4r14uyq6bbd.jpg
I love the game. XD
I remember that one, though I think the art was slightly different in the PSP version. I got almost all the vacation CGs except one, which I think is the kite-flying one on this page: http://www.akiba-station.com/blog/?p=1592
That was the first one I got. :>
Do you remember what’s the max lvl for the jobs and classes?
Nope, but it should indicate that you’ve maxed something out once you do so. I forget the exact wording though.
All righto, done with my first play-through. Got that weirdo-alchemist ending: http://f.666kb.com/i/c0ebfsyxe4c0d7u15.jpg
And I love it. XD Hirol didn’t seem too satisfied with everything that was going on, but Chilia was rather pleased. I have no idea what exactly she was mixing up there, but I know who had to drink it. I really want to see the other endings now, there’s probably quite few funny ones. But I’m off to bed for now. Nighty night. 🙂
Awesome. I love the interactions between those two. I got Chilia’s clener and artist endings and they were both kinda meh, but this one looks funny.
There’s also a pirate ending. Which I haven’t gotten yet, but aherm… Lair Land is completely hackable, all files are extracted, so all that’s left is finding someone for the Chinese translation. (Any help on the search is highly appreciated!)
I also started my on blog now and linked you, hope that’s okay! I will post all updates on the Lair Land translation there. 🙂
If you’d like to help out with the menu translation as well (since the menu should basically be the same in both versions, I guess?) I’d also appreciate that very much! 🙂
That’s great news. I looked at the interface screenshot you posted on your website, but it looks far more complicated than the Japanese version, which is more like this: http://www.free4pspgo.com/psp-games/new/511.htm. That 5×5 game mentioned doesn’t appear either.
However if you can identify places where the two games seem to have the same text, I could try to help. I’m not promising anything, but I think an interface translation is a reasonable goal to shoot for.
B’awww… bummer, seems like the interfaces are very different (the PSP one seems to be a lot more annoying as well, like browsing through the menu seems like it would take more time. XD)
I found two people for the translation tho, so I think we’re safe even without any of your help for now! 🙂
But if you’d be interested in helping out with future translations of Japanese PC games, I’d gladly ask for help again… 🙂
Did you ever play Otometeki Koi Kakumei Love Revo btw?
Yeah, I finished it twice on the DS. The first time I failed to lose any weight and got a bad end, the second time I made it to my target weight but didn’t get any guys. Fun game.
